AYAHUASCA HEALING RETREAT CENTER:
The healing center is based outside of Pucallpa, Peru on 50 acres of lush preserved jungle set along beautiful Yarina Cocha Lake. Here's what Jill the Director says about the center:
"We are genuine seekers of Truth and are devoted to the collective healing of the planet and her children. Through our retreats we aim to help raise awareness in the preservation of shamanic traditions, local indigenous cultures and the Amazon Rainforest.
We are dedicated here at the center in helping those individuals seeking life transformative change and growth. We work with Mother Ayahuasca in ceremonies that are led by a local Shaman. These ceremonies allow the particpants to break through their personal boundaries and limitations set within their normal daily life. The Ayahuasca ceremonies are profoundly successful and self-empowering. They cleanse and detoxify the physical body, release emotional blockages, and let the individual achieve deep realizations and higher states of illuminated consciousness.
We provide a safe and comfortable space for those seeking a responsible way to open their spirituality to the higher realms and dimensions of healing and exploration. The illuminated experiences will unfold into a stronger, lifelong connection with the Divine. Discussion forums and continual personal support will be provided to ensure successful personal transformation.
It is our commitment to help facilitate healing on a individual and global basis. We deeply honor our connection to the Mother Earth and are excited to witness the mass awakening happening on our planet at this time. The plant spirit medicine Ayahuasca is playing a pivotal role in this transition and we are very thankful to have Her as one of our greatest healers and teachers. "
Our shamanic retreats are designed to accommodate each individual on their path of awakening and healing. We offer a series of three Ayahuasca ceremonies per week with a local Shaman, also known as a Curandero or Ayahuasquero. These Shamans have been well established in the shamanic ayahuasca practice. The participants may join in the preparation of the ayahuasca brew, pounding the vine and picking the chacruna leaves. We use a stainless steel pot for cooking our medicine, as aluminum can affect the chemical make-up of the brew. Taking the sacred ayahuasca medicine during ceremonies allows the particpants to expand their conciousness to a multi-faceted universe. Ayahuasca takes the individual through a process of cleansing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. The individual journeys through a series of visions and profound realizations that lead them to a place of healing, understanding and balance within themselves.
During the course of the retreat we offer facilitated group sharing and one on one counseling. We prefer our groups no larger than 12 people to accommodate an intimate and personal setting during ceremony. Our ceremonial Maloca is very spacious, providing a comfortable environment for the profound experience. It is situated further back on the land amongst the banana and mango trees. Here we are in the presence of the sounds of the jungle, where natures orchestra graciously joins us in our sacred cermonies.
Our shamanic retreats are designed to accommodate each individual on their path of awakening and healing. DIETA - THE IMPORTANCE OF DIET DURING AYAHUASCA CEREMONIES: Throughout the indigenous shamanic traditions, the "dieta" has been designed to best facilitate a safe and effective journey with the teacher plant. By strictly following the dieta requirements the participants are more easily able to purify the physical body and alter their states of consciousness. The dieta will also stimulate the body's innate ability to self-heal. Although the strictness of the dieta may vary according to different lineages of shamanism, it is best to maintain the basic diet requirements to ensure ones health and effective journeys with Ayahuasca.
It is suggested that the participant begin to cut down sugars, salts, greasy foods, alcohol and pork two weeks before ceremony. It is highly encouraged to abstain from all sweets (no sugars, acidic fruits, or artificial sweeteners) for at least three days before and after drinking Ayahuasca. One should also abstain from sex for a minimum of three days before and after drinking. Salt should be completely elimanated on days of ceremony. Pork should be abstained from one week before ceremony and for one month after.
Many prescription drugs and some herbs should be avoided with taking MAOIs. A thorough list of these may be found at www.ayahuasca.com/?p=10
We will be offering additional plant dietas in conjunction with the Ayahuasca to help with further cleansing, protection, lucid dreaming, etc. Some of the plants we offer are Pinon Colorado, Guayusa, Ajo Sacha, and Pinon Blanco.

Ayahuasca Shaman Healing Adventure
After my journey down into the jungles of the Amazon in Peru and participating in 5 Ayahuasca healing ceremonies with Shamans (see story 'Ayahuasca Journey'below) - I had asked God-Spirit for something more accessible for westerners to be able to interact with Ayahuasca in a truly supportive healing environment that wouldn't be too foreign or alien for them.
I came across a quote by an Argentinian psychologist who works with healing people with Ayahuasca where she said:
"We wanted to take the plant out of the insectoid terrors of the jungle, and away from the heavy male energy of the Shamans."
That clicked for me...a way for Ayahuasca to spread Her work more easily.
Here's some thoughts by a 20 yr old woman about her experiences with Ayahuasca -
"Throughout the seminar there was a lot of communication among the participants that forged a strong bond between us, and allowed me to really develop my interpretation of the completely overwhelming ayahuasca experience. For me, the seminar was a transcendent mingling of historic, contemporary, and futuristic worlds. It created a context in which an ancient medicine could be used by non-indigenous people in a way that was not separate or alien from our lives in the current world. The nature of the sacrament induces a feeling of unification with the human experience across the ages, and the power of the jungle reminded me of geologic time and the newness of the human species."
Here's a Video from the Movie 'Blueberry' that is the best depiction visually that we've come across of the actual astral heavenly and hellish places / dimensions that are visited during Ayahuasca Ceremonies. Don't get caugth in the cinematic drama here but it does give a good representation of the types of visions you will likely encounter. The director must have been in ceremonies himself!
Here's a video by Piers Gibbons - British Documentary film maker about Ayahuasca.
"Tobias, how on earth did you manage to get this power into this book?! I think every time I've picked it up I've had some sort of peak experience. Just amazed so far. Thank you." Slade Hall - actor
